Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over the years, have been interviewed by me. I have monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments.

The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behaviour are responsible for much of their good and bad fortune.

Take the case of seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities, whereas unlucky people do not.

I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside.

I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying: 'Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $50'.

This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it.

Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.

Hi,

Will you act during the economic downturn, or simply REACT?

Don't let fear of the recession guide your goal setting plans for
2009. This is a BIG mistake...!

Fear is an emotional response, only good for short-term survival.

When you're in "fight or flight" mode, you're not thinking clearly
about the path you're running... You're just RUNNING!

So your efforts lack strategy, planning, and insight.

I want you to do more than just survive 2009.

Internet shopping is predicted to hit $145.1 Billion in the coming
year, a significant 14% increase -- despite the recession!

Consumers will be spending more time at home, using their
computers for everything from bargain hunting and product
research to upgrading skills.

Studies show this shift is ALREADY well underway...!

I don't want the Big "R" to stop you from pursuing exciting
personal, financial, and business goals in 2009, so I've arranged to
get you exclusive VIP access to an important video that Internet
marketing guru Derek Gehl just put up on his site.

Derek's been successfully selling on the Internet for over a decade
now, and he's brought in over $100 MILLION in sales …

… so he's by far the BEST person to advise you about how to
thrive in ANY market.

When you watch his FREE Goal Setting Video, you'll discover
how you can make 2009 your richest year yet:

7 Motivational Quotes to Brighten Your Day

Words are free for us to make, string together, and dispense with but there are times in life when only the right words can make us feel better.

We know what we want to hear or say but the right words simply don't come to mind. It is in these times that motivational quotes prove their worth.

Motivational quotes summarize everything we feel, expect, and believe in. We use them to be inspired and become better.

Be more motivated today, tomorrow, and for the other days to come with the carefully chosen motivational quotes below.

Focus on remedies, not faults - Jack Nicklaus

Mistakes are so difficult to forget while the good things in life have an ephemeral existence in our minds. But why should we let our minds dwell on mistakes? What good can it do? The only time we should think about our faults is for the purpose of learning from them. Upon achieving that, we should focus next on remedies and move on.

Anger and haste hinder good counsel. - English Proverb

Motivational quotes shouldn't be exclusively used for creating happy thoughts and feelings. They should also be used to get rid of unhappy ones and give way for something nicer, warmer, and brighter. Anger is one such emotion and you can use the motivational quote below to remind yourself how futile and destructive anger can be.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are many ways to apply this quote to our lives. If you have a goal, mere wanting is inadequate. You must have a burning desire for it. For that matter, enthusiasm isn't something to be embarrassed about. A world-weary outlook on life may be considered fashionable but some, but such affectations won't make you any happier. Be glad you have something to be excited about for these are the things that make life worthwhile.

Every man is the architect of his own fortune - Sallus

Do not blame God or anyone else for your misfortune. It is useless to do so. You need to strive above all things because it is your life and everything that happens to you is within your power. True enough, some things can't be achieved overnight but if you work hard enough and believe in yourself, you will get what you want no matter what obstacles you’re facing.

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid. - Audre Lorde

Don't waste time dwelling on your fears and insecurities. Rather, concentrate on discovering your strengths and finding out the best way to put them to use in order to achieve your goals. When you do that, you'll become too busy to ever remember to be afraid.

Practice hope. As hopefulness becomes a habit, you can achieve a permanently happy spirit. - Norman Vincent Peale

Yes, hope is something everyone knows and understands but it's not something everyone can do and do repeatedly. Hope takes practice. Moreover, it requires constant practice because it's the only path to happiness. In that line, do remember another important motivational quote, from Horace this time: Never despair!

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? - Vincent Van Gogh

Explaining this quote would be made easier with the use of yet another quote: courage is not defined by the absence of fear but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

Four Mechanisms of Goal Setting

About 90% of laboratory and field studies showed that involving specific and challenging goals led to higher performance than easy or no goals.

The four mechanisms through which goal setting is able to affect individual performance:

- Goals focus attention towards goal-relevant activities and away from goal-irrelevant activities.

- Goals serve as an energizer; higher goals will induce greater effort while low goals induce lesser effort.

- Goals affect persistence; constraints with regard to resources will affect work pace.

- Goals activate cognitive knowledge and strategies which allows people to cope with the situation at hand.

A few days ago, I wrote to tell you about a special promotion we're running in late December and early January that will have you earning HUGE $975 commissions with our "Extreme eBusiness Development Clinic."

I'd like to get you started with this promotion.

The first step toward earning your $975 commissions is to send your customers and subscribers to a special FREE video that I'm putting up on my website on December 29th.

In this video, I'll show everyone how to set important and realistic goals for their websites -- and STICK TO THEM -- in order not just to survive, but actually THRIVE during the economic challenges we'll ALL be facing in 2009.

During this video, I'll be inviting everyone to attend a FREE follow-up webinar in early January, where I'll share my predictions for what will be HOT in Internet marketing in 2009...

... PLUS offer the opportunity to get help attaining your business goals, by registering for my "Extreme eBusiness Development Clinic."

Thanks in advance for your participation...

I'm predicting that this is going to be the biggest WIN in the history of IMC, so you'll definitely want to be a part of it!

Happy holidays, and all the best for 2009!

Twenty years ago goal setting was a myth.

Today every athlete, every politician, and every business leader knows success must start with a goal.
